Wuchang: Fallen Feathers: Brilliant Red Feather Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide
In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, progression is linked to the Impetus Repository. To push your weapon mastery beyond the initial tiers, you must transition from Faint Red Feathers to the more elusive Brilliant Red Feathers.
These materials become available starting in Chapter 2 (Cloudspire). While Faint Feathers handle your +1 to +3 upgrades, Brilliant Red Feathers are required for the mid-tier +4, +5, and +6 Mastery levels.
Upgrading your weapon class (Longswords, Spears, etc.) is done at any Shrine. The cost scales as you progress through the mastery node:
- Mastery +4: Requires 2 Brilliant Red Feathers.
- Mastery +5: Requires 4 Brilliant Red Feathers.
- Mastery +6: Requires 6 Brilliant Red Feathers.
Unlike many games, you are upgrading the weapon type, not a specific blade. If you upgrade "One-Handed Swords" to +6, every sword you find or craft in that category will immediately benefit from the bonus.
The single most efficient way to get these feathers is to upgrade Wu Gang’s shop. Find the Used Mortar in the Shaft Entrance (Cloudspire) and give the Mortar to Wu Gang to unlock 10x Brilliant Red Feathers for purchase in his shop.
Alternatively, in Chapter 2, look for enemies surrounded by a blue-purple smoke with glowing red eyes. These are one-time elite spawns that guaranteed-drop upgrade materials. They can be found in Cloudspire Outskirts and Refugee Camp.
Several NPCs in the land of Shu will trade feathers for your assistance:
- Huang Jian'e Quest: After you find her in a house in the Snowy Passage, help her recover the Red Mercury Crystal. She will reward you with a Brilliant Red Feather.
- He Youzai: Occasionally rewards mid-tier materials for progressing his long-running "Lost Package" questline.
